There's more to Pearl Beach than just the beach, but we'll start there.
Pearl Beach is great for families and children as it has a protected southern end, which includes an enclosed swimming pool. The very secluded Flathead Beach is just a 15 minute walk around the point. Opposite Lion Island, it is a great place to watch the world go by and have a dip.
Around the corner Umina Beach accommodates the surfer within. The point break being particularly good with a south-westerly swell.
For something really special, the walk from Pearl Beach to Patonga offers views over the Hawkesbury River that can only be described as breathtaking. The lookout is a great place to take some cheese and biscuits and maybe a cheeky beverage or two while you sit on top of the world and relax.
This award winning restaurant is arguably the best on the coast. The modern Australian cuisine is complemented by an extensive wine list and fantastic service. Be sure to book in advance to avoid being disappointed. (The Affogato is a particular favourite). 1 Tourmaline Avenue Ph: 02 4344 4400
A short 10 minute drive over the hill, Patonga is a town that time forgot - get ready to do the time warp. The only thing that has changed recently is the newly opened Patonga Pub. It is the perfect place for an arvo beverage overlooking the Hawkesbury. For a cheaper option, there’s a great fish and chip shop just next door as well.
For those who like a bit of a hit or fancy a roll, the tennis courts and bowling green are located just off Tourmaline Avenue. The courts and green are generally available and can be hired by calling Ruth 02 4341 8817. Ruth will let you know if the courts are available and where you can collect a key for the gate.
Located at the southern end of the beach on the corner of Pearl Beach Parade and Tourmaline Ave, this casual cafe is great for a spot of lunch or even just a coffee.
